Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club

healing individuals and community through equine experience

The Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club evolved from a century-long tradition of Urban Black Cowboys in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’ and one man’s commitment to provide horsemanship experience in the inner-city.

Located in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of North Philadelphia, the 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, founded by Ellis Ferrell, remains true to its mission in producing an alternative to outdoor leisure activity to the community and engaging urban youth in equestrian sports while teaching life skills, instilling discipline and promoting academic excellence. We need your help! We’re raising money to keep our club, this historical part of Philadelphia, alive.

El-Dog

Ellis Ferrell Jr. (El-Dog) President and founder of the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club shares his life story and life-long love of horses; from his upbringing in Tallahassee, Florida to the Strawberry mansion neighbourhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. El-Dog dreams of introducing horse riding as a means to uplift any person that is willing to learn. We honor the legacy of El-Dog.
